Accounts & Payroll Assistant

Location: Liverpool
Salary: £30-35,000
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Accounts & Payroll Assistant to join a well‑established, international business operating within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. This is a varied and hands‑on role ideal for someone with a blend of payroll experience and solid all‑round accounts knowledge, looking to develop within a supportive finance function.

We're looking for someone detail‑driven, proactive and confident working across multiple entities within a fast‑paced environment. If you enjoy variety and playing a key part in accurate financial control, this role offers an excellent platform to grow.


The Role

You will support the Finance and HR teams across a broad range of activities, including:

Payroll Responsibilities

  • Collate, validate and upload payroll data to a third‑party payroll provider
  • Review payroll cycle reports to ensure accuracy
  • Support payroll sign‑off processes
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee payroll and pension queries
  • Liaise with HR and Finance as the subject matter expert for payroll matters

Accounting Responsibilities

  • Post bank transactions and maintain cashbook reconciliations
  • Complete monthly bank, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
  • Process accruals, prepayments and general ledger postings
  • Support month‑end close and reporting activities
  • Assist with annual audit requirements
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of financial information into SAP
  • Identify and support process improvements across finance

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in accounting, ideally in a manufacturing or multi‑entity environment
  • Payroll experience is essential
  • Strong knowledge of SAP FI/SD/MM modules
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, V‑lookups)
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a busy month‑end environment
  • Confident communicator able to liaise with colleagues at all levels
