Financial Controller / Knutsford / Salary £60,000 - £70,000

The business supports a range of sectors and has operations across the UK and Europe. We are working together to appoint an ambitious Financial Controller who will be the financial lead for one of their growing business units.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and driven, Fully Qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) finance professional looking to step into a leadership role where they can truly shape a finance function and influence business direction.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day finance function for one of the business units within this large group. You will play a key role in driving standards, structure, and performance across the team.

You'll lead, mentor, and develop a team of five across transactional finance and management accounts, while also acting as a key link between the business and Group Finance.

• Lead and develop the finance team (AP, AR, Credit Control, and Management Accounts)
• Oversee month-end close, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
• Partner with Group Finance, ensuring alignment on reporting, controls, and processes
• Drive improvements across financial processes, systems, and controls
• Support the production and review of management accounts and commercial reporting
• Implement and monitor KPIs to enhance team and business performance
• Provide insight and challenge to senior stakeholders to support decision-making
• Foster a high-performance, accountable, and growth-focused team culture

Key skills

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
• Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership role
• Strong team management experience, with a passion for developing others
• Experience operating within a multi-entity or group structure is advantageous
• Commercially minded with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders
• Hands-on, proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement
• Strong communication skills and the ability to operate at senior leadership level
