A global consultancy firm which offers services into hundred of industries including Food, Pharma, Utilities, Environmental, Commodities and Mining are looking to grow its UK and Ireland divisions with the appointment of a Regional Financial Controller to be based from their site in the West Midlands.

Leading the UK and Ireland teams, the Regional Financial Controller will work closely with the Divisional Finance Director, European Finance Lead and wider Senior Leadership Team whilst managing the day to day finance team and being onvolved in numerous projects across systems (ERP), process improvements and post-acquisition integration work.

The Financial Controller has the following responsibilities for this region:

  • Oversee financial operations for the UK & Ireland regions.
  • Lead and manage the month end closing process.
  • Deliver monthly financial reports to Global HQ.
  • Provide proactive financial analysis to regional business leaders, by identifying trends, risks and opportunities, and drive/track strategic initiatives.
  • Manage and mentor financial staff.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Foster relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including local management, corporate teams, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment with overall financial strategies and objectives.
  • Drive change management initiatives within the region, adapting to evolving business needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Champion a continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and process optimisation.
  • Oversee statutory reporting obligations.
  • Drive the financial planning analysis process (Budget and forecast planning).
  • Coordinate all work and interaction with external auditors for annual audit processes, both for Group and local statutory purposes.
  • Lead credit and collection management process, driving continuous improvement in cash generation.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
  • Manage financial systems and related policies and procedures.
  • Participate in regional M&A activity including post-merger implementation of finance functions and policies.
  • Collaborate with Group Treasury on cash forecasting, cash repatriation to Australia, cash management policy and procedures.
  • Collaborate with local and Group tax managers to ensure compliance with local tax laws.

The ideal person will be:

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
  • Management experience within a finance team in a high-volume industrial or business services environment,
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong maths and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to understand complex accounting processes and employ effective auditing/ drill down capabilities.
  • Ability to obtain, organise and analyse data, and to develop and implement processes to drive efficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills with high level of English proficiency, both written and verbal.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Recognised leadership and people development skills.
  • Experience in change management financial related projects and projects linked to financial process and controls definition and implementation.
  • Worked in a lead position in the implementation of ERP projects (functional lead or finance manager as part of ERP implementation project) advantageous.
