Assistant Accountant // Up to £35,000, full study support available // Immediate Start // Knowsley

Tasks and responsibilities:

Assist the Finance Manager in the day-to-day running of the department, to include the following tasks:

Bank reconciliations, including monthly invoice finance reconciliation

  • Regular bank audits
  • Prepare and process supplier payments
  • Monthly General Ledger transactional postings, in line with management accounts process
  • Suggest improvements on accuracy, efficiency and reducing costs
  • Support and provide annual leave cover for members within the department
  • Keep up to date with HMRC - VAT, VAT inspections, PAYE
  • Renew Government licenses in a timely manner
  • Report any discrepancies
  • Assist the Finance Manager with monthly financial reports
  • Cost analysis

Skills and abilities:

Essential:

  • Work experience as a Finance Assistant or similar role.
  • Must have knowledge in all aspects of financial management
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping.
  • Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
  • MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of invoice financing
  • Knowledge of Currency (€) transactions and forward ordering currency.
