An established business based in Liverpool City Centre is currently recruiting for a Financial Controller to join the finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who is looking to move to a business that offers career progression, as the company have ambitious growth plans.

You will be a hands-on, technically strong and ambitious Financial Controller, who will take complete ownership for running the day-to-day Finance department and provide effective leadership to the team.

Supporting the FD, you will be responsible for managing the finance team of 8, delivering a trial balance, annual financial statements, VAT and duty accounting, credit card receipts. A key role in improving processes and systems is anticipated.

It is essential that all applicants have good people management experience.

As Financial Controller your role will involve:

  • Management of the finance team
  • Optimise day-to-day performance of the Finance department
  • Preparation of VAT
  • Robust review and reconciliation of balance sheet and profit and loss accounts
  • Preparing variance analysis and commentaries
  • Closing off period end and year end
  • Provide commentary and analysis on credit card fees for management accounts
  • Act as POC for the company's external auditors and tax advisor
  • Prepare financial statement notes and disclosures.
  • Analyse financial performance and spend; contribute to maximising profitability
  • Working with payroll bureau, pay all employees and payroll taxes accurately and on time and prepare all end of tax year returns and reporting accurately and on time.

To apply for the position you must:

  • Be qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Have experience of working as an FC
  • Have strong people management skills
  • Be a hands on FC and not afraid to roll up sleeves
  • Have experience of working in SME / Owner management businesses
  • Have experience of working in a fast-paced environment; proactive, agile, responsive to opportunities and deliver to deadlines
